Introduction

Waste management is one of the most important environmental problems of our times that require immediate and environmentally correct solutions. Modern cities large companies, industrial facilities, hospitals overburden the environment with the huge amount of waste that they produce which increases daily. The lack of a rational management in dealing with the waste causes multiple problems such as pollution and infection to the underground waters, the ground, fetidity, and unaesthetic view, dispersion of small particles spontaneous combustion with the threat of fire, which result in the degradation of the environment and the quality of life for people as well as the hygiene of the cities.

Government organizations, local government, businesses and citizens alike, have realized the magnitude of the problem and are searching for modern responsible solutions. Modern and responsible solutions though, are acquired only through modern technology and from scientifically proven methods of waste management. All of the developed countries are dealing with the problem with the use of the technology and modern methods of management.

In Greece’s most large cities and most importantly Athens and Thessalonica, modern technology and methods of dealing with waste management and recycling have been implemented. Private companies are taking a major role in the solution of the environmental problems of our society. As a corollary of the continuous increased environmental concerns a company was founded in the area of Thrace “RecaTec”, that specializes in the collection, transportation, separation and recycling of domestic, industrial, and commercial waste, thus giving the possibility of a solution that is both environmentally and economically viable in dealing with the problem of waste management
